Mechanical Estimator

This role is based either from our clients Manchester or London offices, with at least two days in a week in the office, the rest remote. The successful candidate will have mechanical estimating experience from an M&E, MEP or building services background.

Our Client

Our client is one of the UKs leading contractors who specialise in working with numerous sectors to deliver low carbon and renewable energy multi-technology generation, distribution, and consumption solutions, with turnkey design, build, upgrade, renewal, and delivery of energy efficiency projects, adding value to its clients in a number of ways from high quality contract delivery to provision of funding solutions and technical consultancy services. Services include (but are not limited to): CHP, various low carbon and renewable energy solutions, energy from waste, air and ground source heat pumps, BESS, solar PV, biomass, energy centres, HIUs, ESCo, and communal and district heating.

Our client has experienced a period of significant growth, and indeed is set on an envious upwards trajectory over the next 5-10 years, and consequently wishes to appoint a high calibre Mechanical Estimator. The role will join the dynamic Work Winning team in a hybrid position based at our clients London Office (two days per week). In this role, you will play a crucial part in winning new projects by preparing accurate prime cost estimates for the mechanical components of bids. Success will be measured and achieved through effective management and servicing of clients, coupled with the focus upon maintaining net margins and a high level of staff satisfaction, whilst also liaising closely with the Senior Managers in providing regular progress and general reporting.

The Role

Supporting the Estimating team with mechanical bids and tenders

Preparing and submitting prime cost estimates utilising Enterprise Estimating Software.

Liaising with internal and external engineers, consultants and subcontractors to construct and formulate estimates and resolve issues

Analysing drawings, specifications and other documentation to prepare estimates

Identifying and provide alternative cost proposals, solutions and value engineering options

Establishing and maintaining tendering processes and conduct negotiations

Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors

Supporting and encourage junior team members

Monitoring targets and workflow

Controlling and organising tender documentation

Tracking and reporting analytics on a variety of campaigns, internal communications, and social media using varied tools

You will be responsible for all your own workload and managing all assigned projects

You will also be required to make your own decisions and will be expected to show initiative

The Person

Experience working for a Mechanical & Electrical contractor

Proficient in using estimating software packages

Experience in budget and cost planning

Advanced skills in Excel

Ability to analyse drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare estimates

Experience in preparing and submitting prime cost estimates using Estimating Software

Excellent Problem-Solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot issues and provide timely resolutions.

An inquisitive mind with attention to detail

High attention to detail and analytical thinker

Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with business stakeholders and external stakeholders.

Self-Disciplined

Good Oral and Written Communication Skills

A full UK driving licence
