We are recruiting for an experienced Paraplanner to work within a highly successful Principle Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management based in Moorgate, London.

Role overview

In order for the Managing Partner to continue to provide holistic advice and team-leadership to the very highest level, he is recruiting an experienced paraplanner to support him and his team to service his client base which has in excess of £200m assets under management.

This role will support one of the leading Managing Partners of the business and a small team of three financial advisers; whilst they will be the senior paraplanner, there are others in the team also performing paraplanning duties.

Ideally the candidate will be part or fully diploma level qualified, however, my client is also open to an experienced paraplanner or senior PSS with SJP knowledge with a wealth of paraplanning knowledge acquired through experience.

The Role - Paraplanner

  • You will be working within a busy team and your role will include:
  • Support the Financial Planners in research and analysis to meet client needs and objectives.
  • Prepare client financial plans and suitability reports/letters for Financial Planners - including annual review, new business or ad hoc advice reports.
  • Research of internal and external products to ensure the highest standards of advice
  • Prepare documentation to be held on file or included within reports, as applicable, to support the recommendation and justify the provider and product recommended.
  • Manage the presentation of technical data to the Financial Planners.
  • Compile cashflow models when required as part of the advice process.
  • Provide the client with a positive professional experience, offering qualified knowledge and ongoing assistance.
  • Maintain up to date product and technical knowledge.
  • Maintain all standards of performance as required by the company
  • Develop and maintain internal relationships within all parts of the business.
  • Complete Continuous Professional Development to meet regulatory requirements and personal development needs.

The Person - Paraplanner

  • Previous paraplanning experience in a similar role at a senior level.
  • Be level 4 Diploma in Financial Planning (DipPFS) qualified, working towards this, OR qualified via experience.
  • This is an interesting and challenging role that would suit a confident, numerate, IT proficient and professional individual who enjoys using their initiative and who has a 'can do’ working style
  • Experienced in the administration of pension, investment & IHT products
  • Are highly organised and have excellent communication skills
  • Confident in dealing with clients and third parties and can work with total discretion.
  • Good IT knowledge - experience of Voyant, iBusiness, FE Analytics, Salesforce highly advantageous.
  • Good understanding of the Financial Planning process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, both written and verbal communication.
  • Customer service skills - providing an excellent service to the adviser and client.
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively to deadlines.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail to balance demands of role.
  • Broad knowledge of the Financial Services Industry and high level of technical knowledge.
  • In depth knowledge and experience with cashflow modelling.

Additional Information

  • Basic salary: £40-60k starting salary (dependent on skills and experience)
  • Working hours: Full time, Monday to Friday
  • Pension: SJP pension scheme
  • Holiday entitlement: 25 days, plus bank holidays
  • Location: Moorgate, London during initial training / embedding people, flexible hybrid option thereafter
  • Benefits: Income protection plan / death in service benefit / training and development support
