Role Overview

The Philanthropy Manager will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a strategy to secure substantial financial support from high-net-worth individuals and other major funders. The role requires exceptional relationship management skills and the ability to craft compelling funding proposals to inspire meaningful support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and implement a strategy to attract significant contributions from key supporters, including individuals, trusts, and other funding bodies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with a diverse portfolio of high-value donors, fostering long-term support and engagement.
  • Achieve ambitious income targets by securing significant gifts, including those at six-figure levels and above.
  • Tailor proposals and stewardship plans to reflect the unique interests and motivations of donors.
  • Work collaboratively with our client’s internal teams, senior stakeholders, and external partners to maximise funding opportunities and leverage networks.
  • Conduct detailed research to identify potential new supporters, creating opportunities to broaden our client’s funding base.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of fundraising activities, providing updates and insights to our client’s internal stakeholders.
  • Represent our client at events and meetings to engage current and prospective supporters.

Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Demonstrable experience in generating significant income, with a proven track record of securing high-value gifts.
  • Skilled in managing a portfolio of donors, including navigating complex relationships and interests across wider organisational structures.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to produce compelling written proposals and deliver engaging presentations.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to align donor motivations with our client’s priorities.
  • Excellent organisational skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple relationships and meet deadlines.
  • Passionate about making a difference and motivated by achieving results.

Desirable:

  • Familiarity with the landscape of high-value giving, including trends in philanthropy.
  • Knowledge of best practices in relationship management and donor stewardship.
  • Experience in using CRM systems for tracking and managing donor engagement.
