PMO Lead – Hybrid / London - £120K + 20% Bonus & Excellent BenefitsOverview:A excellent opportunity has arisen within one of the world’s leading financial institutions for a seasoned PMO Lead.In this position, you will manage a team of six experienced Portfolio professionals, overseeing their performance and development. You will offer strategic guidance, support, and constructive challenge to project teams. Your role will focus on ensuring strong governance, effective planning, and meticulous control and monitoring of the portfolio. Key priorities include maintaining compliance, maximizing resource efficiency, and sustaining delivery excellence.Role & Responsibilities:
  • Implementation and Reporting: Enforcing central PMO processes, preparing portfolio status reports, RAID logs, and dashboards.
  • RAID Coordination: Managing risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (RAID) logs, including forum alignment and classification.
  • Planning and Analysis: Supporting project/programme planning, financial tracking, and "what-if" analysis for central PMO challenges.
  • Governance and Documentation: Drafting/reviewing deliverables for compliance, maintaining document controls, and creating minutes and tailored management information (MI).
  • Financial Oversight: Maintaining financial registers, tracking forecasts vs. actuals, and escalating budget issues when needed.
  • Toolset Management: Ensuring accurate tracking in Planview or equivalent tools.
  • Training and Onboarding: Managing training schedules for new team members with central PMO SMEs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Enhancing project management standards, tools, and methods, and leading small improvement projects.
Essential Skills & Requirements:
  • PMO Leadership: 5+ years in a Portfolio PMO Lead role or equivalent, establishing functions and defining standards.
  • Tools Expertise: Planview: Proficient user with knowledge of data models and handling large datasets. Excel: Intermediate skills for manipulating data and creating dashboards. Oracle Financials: Experience with Payables module. Power BI: Familiarity with equivalent reporting tools. MS Office Suite: Intermediate in PowerPoint, Word, Visio, and SharePoint.
  • Strong understanding of Waterfall delivery, RAID log management, financial/resource management, and project lifecycle requirements.
  • Experience defining and implementing project management frameworks aligned with policies.
  • Skilled in managing baselines, scope, plans, budgets, and project documentation.
  • Budget management expertise, including structuring financials across programs.
  • Effective in influencing adherence to project lifecycles and documentation standards.
  • Collaboration: Experienced in supporting working groups/steering committees, including minute-taking and structured reporting.
  • Preferred: Familiarity with hybrid delivery approaches (Waterfall, Agile, and Prince2 Agile) and balancing structured reporting with Agile flexibility.
