Policy and Public Affairs Manager

Responsibilities:

  • Draft policy papers, briefings, consultation responses, and position statements to communicate the charity's views and recommendations
  • Identify opportunities to influence policy and practice and work with internal and external stakeholders to shape national and local government policies
  • Represent the charity in meetings with government departments, parliamentary committees, and other relevant organisations to advocate for change and improvement in key policy areas
  • Develop, build and maintain strong relationships with a range of key stakeholders
  • Building relationships with MPs and supporting engagement in parliamentary activities such as debates
  • Identify the best routes to create policy change and advise on how to appropriately engage the charity's community of supporters with their campaigning work through clear calls to action

Profile

Policy and Public Affairs Manager

Essential:

  • Experience in public policy, public affairs, or political engagement, preferably within the charity or non-profit sectors
  • A track record of influencing policy and building relationships with government, key stakeholders, and the media
  • Proactive, results-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Research and analytical skills, with the ability to understand and interpret complex policy documents and data
  • Outstanding working knowledge of Westminster and Whitehall and the UK political system
