Role: Principal Designer / Building Regs PD

WRG has recently partnered with an independent property & consultancy that operates across the Home Counties & South East of England. The business has ambitious plans for developing their Principal Designer service and is looking to appoint an experienced and competent CDM/ PD professional with a strong understanding of the BSA to establish this new offering.

You will sit within their CDM/ Principal Designer team and deliver the Building Regulations Principal Designer along with CDM/ PD service, to a diverse portfolio of clients across the built environment typically within the residential (public and private), industrial, healthcare, commercial, retail, office, university and education sectors.

This role has been created off the back of the changes happening in the industry related to the Building Safety Act, and the business wanting to integrate their PD and BSA service offering to clients.

The Building Regs PD will support their clients and help navigate the changes affecting the industry and ensure that building regs compliance is achieved. They already have a healthy pipeline of work and have tendered for several more future projects to offer the Building Regs PD service to existing clients.

The role would suit a Principal Designer with several years experience in the sector and an excellent understanding of the Building Safety Act. Our client is happy to support with the relevant training and CPD upskill your knowledge relating to building regulations and the BSA.

Duties:

  • Deliver a CDM Advisor & Principal Designer service to clients.
  • Oversee design risk register and ensure this is updated on a regular basis.
  • Compile PCIs, CPPs, RAMS etc.
  • Offer advice around the Building Safety Act and ensure compliance on projects.
  • Liaise with Architects, Designers, Principal Contractor and other parties.
  • Attend client and design team meetings to offer professional input relation to building regs compliance an safety in design.
  • Provide technical advice to clients, contractors, developers, colleagues, and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are completed in line with current building regulations and H&S/ CDM legislation.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management, Architecture or similar discipline (desirable)
  • NEBOSH Construction or equivalent.
  • Membership to any of the following RICS, CABE, RIBA, CIAT, CIOB, APS, or IOSH (desirable).
  • Excellent knowledge of the Building Safety Act, building regulations, codes and legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
