The Senior Product Owner will provide Agile specialist expertise to ensure backlogs are constantly well maintained, prioritized, and fully cover the requirements. Acting as an effective conduit between the development team and the business stakeholders, the Senior Product Owner will resolve any technical issues or ambiguities, ensuring that the expectations of sponsors and stakeholders are met in full.
The Senior Product Owner will collaborate with all necessary parties within the project, including Solution Architects, Agile Development Leads, Technical Development Leads, Agile Test Leads, Agile Delivery Leads, and other stakeholders, to establish an optimal solution that meets requirements and the agreed MVP, adheres to technical strategy/constraints, and considers the total cost of ownership.
Key Knowledge/Skills
- Develop strong, effective backlogs in an Agile environment, including gathering requirements, developing effective user stories, and gathering feedback from stakeholders to incorporate into the backlog for future development.
- Communicate with non-technical stakeholders about complex technical concepts to effectively define and prioritize features, refine scope, and collect story acceptance criteria.
- Balance competing tasks and demands effectively, answer questions, and provide prioritization calls quickly, ensuring all assigned development teams are able to build consistently and are not held up waiting on responses.
- Organize and manage time effectively to ensure that features and stories are prepared and streamed to the teams to optimize the delivery flow.
- Engage and nurture stakeholders by actively listening, negotiating, and managing conflicts to determine scope/prioritization, identify problems, and determine solutions with business and technical stakeholders.
- Coordinate integrations and dependencies with other Product Owners to ensure that development aligns with deliveries from other teams in time, scope, and performance, ensuring a quality end-to-end product.
- Identify and flag risks to delivery in the FAE Product Area to the relevant teams, determine any suitable mitigations, assess the delivery impact to delivery and timelines, and escalate rapidly as required.
- Assess and improve product processes within their teams, product areas, and on the wider program to enhance the efficiency and quality of product development, Agile practice, and product strategy.
- Manage personal development and keep up to date with industry trends, Agile methodology, and improvement opportunities.
- Mentor and support other Product Owners and team members, enabling effective product knowledge transfer and onboarding of new team members.
- Senior Product Owner experience of at least 3+ years on projects of a similar size, scale.
Technical skills and experience as a Product Owner:
- Experience in technical systems and data analysis.
- Experience in developing complex, high-transaction back-office systems.
- Experience in implementing systems using Azure technologies (
- PCI compliant payment solutions; and SFIA competency-based resources would be desirable.
