Morgan Hunt are working with the NSPCC in their search for a permanent SAR and Disclosure Officer to support the Data Protection and Compliance Team in complying with law, while providing pragmatic and strategic advice internally and to other relevant parties.
You will identify and champion a comprehensive and best practice approach to data protection and fundraising compliance, ensuring the Charity complies with all legal requirements in relation to information governance and other relevant law (in particular the processing of personal data).
You will provide in-house compliance advice on data protection, privacy and fundraising compliance issues; as well as reviewing DPIA's, LIA's and other risk assessments. You will maintain the operational services of police disclosure requests and data subject access requests, as well as assisting the Data Protection Manager in identifying, reporting and investigating personal data breach incidents
The successful candidate will have experience within Information Governance and Data Protection, with in depth knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and other relevant law, guidance and codes of practice. You will have experience advising on data protection queries and issues, processing police disclosure requests and subject access requests, as well as supporting investigations into data breaches. You will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to organise, prioritise and effectively manage a large workload.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide in-house data protection and privacy advice to all organisational staff to ensure compliance with Data Protection Act 208, UK GDPR and PECR
- Review and log Data Privacy and Impact Assessments and Legitimate Interest Assessments submitted by internal stakeholders, flagging non-compliance or high risk appropriately
- Respond appropriately to and process records disclosure requests from data subjects within statutory deadlines; from the police and other voluntary and statutory agencies
- Keeping up to date with developments in data protection legislation, official guidance and other law relevant to the operation of the organisation
- Support the implementation of changes to data protection law within charity
Person Specification
- Strong analytical skills; with the ability to understand, interpret and explain legal provisions of the Data Protection Act and other relevant laws
- Ability to apply technical aspects of data protection legislation to practical scenarios, and provide pragmatic and strategic advice
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to give clear verbal explanations in an appropriate manner to staff at all levels, members of the public and external parties
- Able to handle situations with diplomacy and having regard to sensitive and confidential nature of personal data
- Experience in governance, policy and compliance as well as in depth knowledge of the Data Protection Act 2018, UK GDPR and other relevant law, guidance and codes of practice
