An outstanding SEND school in Forest Hill, South East London, is seeking a SEND teacher to join their team on a long-term to permanent basis starting February 2025.
The position is full-time with a pay range of £180-£230 per day, depending on experience.
Candidates must have Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and demonstrable knowledge and passion for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Experience working with complex needs and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is required, while knowledge of Makaton and PECS is highly desirable.
The role involves delivering creative lessons to up to 8 learners in a pre-formal class, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children.

Job Description

The school is a mixed school catering for pupils aged between 4-11 years old with Autism. Most pupils also have Autism, SLD, and additional physical and sensory disabilities.

The ideal SEND teacher will be a dedicated and creative educator with demonstrable SEND knowledge, Primary school teachers with a passion for SEND are welcome to apply. As an SEND Teacher should have an innovative and flexible approach to teaching. Alongside the staff, you will be responsible for safeguarding and protecting the welfare of children and young people.

The successful SEND teacher's day-to-day role will include delivering creative and person-centred lessons to up to 8 learners in a pre-formal class.

To be considered for this role you will need:

Must have QTS
Demonstrable knowledge of and a passion for SEND
Makaton and PECS - not essential but highly desirable
Experience working with Complex Needs and ASD

Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service
