About the RoleAs a Senior SEN Caseworker, you will be responsible for managing a caseload of children and young people with SEN, working closely with families, schools, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a caseload of children and young people with complex SEN needs.
  • Collaborating with families, schools, and external agencies to develop and review Education, Health, and Care (EHC) plans.
  • Providing guidance and advocacy for children, young people, and their families, ensuring they understand and access their rights and support.
  • Ensuring statutory deadlines and processes are met in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
  • Supporting the SEN Operational Manager and providing guidance to junior team members.
  • Contributing to policy development and service improvement initiatives.
  • Ensuring smooth transitions for children and young people between educational phases, including Year 6 to secondary school and further education or training.

About YouTo succeed in this role, you will have significant experience in SEN casework and a strong understanding of statutory processes. You will also possess:

  • Proven experience managing a caseload of SEN cases, including complex and high-need scenarios.
  • In-depth knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and associated legislation.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with families, schools, and professionals.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Experience supervising or mentoring junior team members is desirable.
