Garment Technologist £42-49,000 depending on experience

This is a perfect role for an experienced Garment Technologist who is looking for their next step-up in their career. Likewise, it would also suit an existing Senior Garment Technologist who is seeking a new challenge with an exciting fashion brand.

This is what you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure they understand and adhere to technical specifications.
  • Work with the Design team to ensure first proto’s come back as close to original requests.
  • Resolve technical issues that may arise during the production process, finding innovative solutions to maintain product quality.
  • Support and develop a Garment Technologist.
  • Work with the buying team to optimise manufacturing processes while maintaining quality standards, effectively managing production costs.
  • Maintain detailed records of technical specifications, patterns, and quality control reports, ensuring accurate and organised documentation.
  • Demonstrate an excellent understanding of the customer base and brand handwriting, as well as in depth product and competitor knowledge.
  • Lead fit sessions (twice a week), working with buying and design to ensure excellent and consistent fit of product, together with the best construction methods.
  • Conduct risk assessments of all products from the earliest point of product development, raising and resolving any identified issues.
  • Regularly visit the stores and review online platform as well as competition.
  • Work with the Technical Manager to standardise key blocks with the support of buying and design to increase speed and accuracy when fitting and increase product performance.
  • Liaise with external teams, including the warehouse to understand and respond to any quality issues and to advise further actions.
  • Achievement of fit returns target for product areas.
  • Work alongside buying to manage the critical path for own product areas.
  • Responsible for wash care, fabric composition communication for the website.

Who we’re looking for:

  • You’ll have experience as either a Garment Technologist or a Senior Garment Technologist.
  • Womenswear experience is a must.
  • Ideally, you’ll have experience of working with a premium clothing brand.
  • Knowledge of garment construction, fabrics, and manufacturing processes.
  • Your collaborative and clear communication skills will enable you to work with the wider product team such as Buying and Design, building successful working relationships.
  • You will be enthusiastic about product and constantly seeking to make improvements for the brand and customer.
