Our client is seeking a Senior Underwriter to join their dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to work remotely from anywhere in the United Kingdom. As a Senior Underwriter, you will play a crucial role in reviewing customer applications, identifying risk factors, and determining policy terms. You will be instrumental in ensuring accurate coverage for customers, enabling them to make claims if required across the policy's term. This role requires an individual with a thorough understanding of mortality and morbidity risk factors, as well as financial underwriting.

What you'll do:

As a Senior Underwriter, your primary responsibility will be to review customer applications, identify risk factors, and determine whether we can offer Life, Critical Illness Cover, and Income Protection applications. You will have the autonomy to decide on what terms to offer or ask for more information from either the customer or their doctor. Your role is pivotal in ensuring that we provide accurate cover for our customers, enabling them to make a claim if required across the policy's term. You will also have the opportunity to participate in or lead projects that enhance the underwriting process and improve our systems' commercial viability.

• Review and accurately assess life and disability risks by reviewing applications
• Participate in or lead projects that enhance the underwriting process and improve commercial viability
• Ensure requests for further information are appropriate, accurate, and commensurate with the risk being assessed
• Identify complaints and ensure they are acted upon quickly
• Accurately record all work daily to enable effective business decisions
• Maintain excellent knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements
• Communicate professionally with internal and external customers via all methods of communication
• Understand service level commitments made during marketing and sales processes

You possess extensive knowledge of all protection products and have an understanding of legislations and regulatory requirements. Your strong written and verbal communication skills enable you to interact professionally with internal and external customers via all methods of communication.

• Thorough understanding of mortality and morbidity risk factors as well as financial underwriting
• Atleast 5 years of experience in individual (not group) life underwriting roles and experience in assessing medical evidence
• Must have experience with the right products - Life, Critical Illness and Protection Products, Income Protection, DPD, individual life cove
• Understanding of legislations and regulatory requirements
• Effective time management skills with ability to prioritise workload effectively
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills through all media
• Ability to look at an application holistically, considering each case on its own merits
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy providing the correct terms applicable
• Problem-solving abilities
