Underwriter P & C (Binders)

New role due to growth for P & C Underwriter to underwrite an existing delegated authority book of P&C business in continental Europe and the UK. You will also contribute (along with the the team) to organic business development. This is an exciting role to contribute to the continued growth of one of the main target business.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

· Oversight of delegated authority schemes

· Underwrite P&C risks

· Accommodate underwriting referrals

· Carry out underwriting file reviews

· Contribute to coverholder audits

· Cleansing and evaluation of data

· Monitoring pricing / rating adequacy

· Support the due diligence and onboarding of the new P&C opportunities

· Contribute to return margin expectations in line with business plan

· Support organic growth of existing MGAs in Europe and UK

· Exposure management per binder

· File management

· To maintain compliance with any applicable UK, Maltese or International statutory or regulatory obligation as required by the role.

SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE

· Min 3 years of P&C Underwriting experience, ideally gained across different jurisdictions within European Union gained in direct insurance (or facultative reinsurance)

· Desire to develop portfolio management techniques

· Basic level of project management skills

· Basic knowledge of reinsurance and its applications

· Good interpersonal skills

· Good communication skills

· Good analytical skills

· Process and results-orientated with tenacity to delve into detail without losing sight of the bigger picture

· Ability to work with different cultures within a European context

· Team player

· Strong desire to learn new skills and techniques and willingness to travel when required

· Proficient MS Office skills

· if you have a second European languages, i.e. French, Spanish, German, Dutch that would be a definite advantage.
