Fundraising Coordinator

Location: Waterloo, London – Hybrid

Salary: £30,000 per annum

The Role

The Fundraising Coordinator supports the generation of Trust income, principally for the organisation activities in London and the South of England. The role works closely with development colleagues and delivery staff to help identify income sources, approach funders and partners, develop and write bids, and contribute towards their annual income targets.

The main income generation specialism and target of this role is grants from charitable trusts/ foundations, lottery and statutory sources, as well as public sector commissioning opportunities.

Main Objectives:

  • Identify suitable sources of grant funding for projects and programmes of activity and monitor the external funding environment, alerting colleagues to appropriate new sources as required.
  • Write high quality funding applications to funding bodies such as charitable trusts, BIG Lottery, local and regional statutory funding sources as required.
  • Manage a constant portfolio of projects requiring funding, working closely with colleagues to develop individual project action plans to resolve funding gaps and meet overall team targets.
  • Develop and submit bids for formal tenders and public sector commissioning opportunities.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Head of Fundraising and other fundraising and development team staff to develop fundraising strategies and actions.
  • Research and develop fundraising opportunities for current and developing local and London wide projects, and secure funds from the public, private and voluntary sectors.
  • Liaise with project managers to ensure all potential fundraising opportunities are matched to suitable projects and that appropriate development work is undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Make approaches to funding bodies as identified and secure funding for a range of programmes and projects.
  • Ensure that funders’ requirements are communicated to project managers and the targets are met and accurately reported on.
  • Prepare and write large bids such as Big Lottery, statutory grant applications and public sector commissioning opportunities.
  • Prepare and write fundraising proposals to grant making trusts and foundations.
  • Support individual and organisational relationship building activities with their key charitable trust and foundation targets.
  • Liaise with their UK and colleagues across the organisation to lead or contribute to national and regional “Thematic” funding applications if required.  
  • Share good practice and contribute to their fundraising activity.
  • Support the development of new projects for new or innovative work.
  • Develop areas of projects where required to make fundraising proposals more robust, for example securing partnership support for projects.
  • Monitor and prepare regular reports as required for Fundraising meetings.

Skills and Qualifications

  • A successful track record of experience in two or more of the following:
    • Achieving major grant funding from trusts, foundations, lottery distributors or similar
    • Writing statutory contract tenders
    • Undertaking high quality research to efficiently identify grant and contract funding opportunities for voluntary sector organisations.
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • A team player with a confident manner and a professional, flexible and positive approach to the work
  • An ability to quickly develop a detailed understanding of wide ranging and complex topics
  • High level computer literacy, for word processing, emailing, DTP, record keeping, developing budgets and web-based research
  • Excellent standard of oral and written English with an ability to produce concise and persuasive prose
  • Ability/willingness to travel to other offices in London and occasionally work outside of standard hours to deliver bids and funding submissions on time.
  • Genuine interest, enthusiasm and dedication to fundraising work
  • Flexible, target driven, and results orientated
