We would like to recruit a Teacher of Economics and Business from 1st September 2025. We can offer full- or part-time for this role, according to the needs of the timetable. The successful candidate must be able to teach Economics at A-Level and Business Studies at GCSE. A-Level Economics is a particularly popular subject with a growing number of students taking the subject.  The department has a very strong academic record with many A-Level Economists applying for Economics degrees. The candidate must be passionate about Economics, and have the ability to teach both Macro & Micro Economics. Sixth form teaching would make up the majority of the candidates timetable. The Sixth form has a culture of excellence, and is a fantastic place to work. Business Studies GCSE is a popular GCSE option subject taught to year 10 and year 11 students who have chosen it. Examination results are excellent. 
We require a versatile, capable and enthusiastic individual who is passionate about teaching and learning, collaborative working and sharing good practice. Enrichment is at the heart of the department and we would like to hear from candidates who see the value in connecting students with industry through guest speakers and visits,  and who would like to build on these links within the taught curriculum as well as building a strong co-curricular offer.  You will join a small department of friendly, experienced teachers, and will be part of a much wider school community where collaboration is important to aid professional development and teaching and learning practice. 


Specific duties: 
•    Implement, develop and review the department’s schemes of work in order to provide an engaging, well coordinated and differentiated programme of study. 
•    Uphold high standards of preparation, teaching and classroom management. 
•    Assess, record and report the performance and progress of students at every stage, using first quality teaching to adjust teaching and learning strategies as necessary working in conjunction with other relevant stakeholders to address any areas of underperformance. 
•    Set and mark examinations and other forms of assessment. 
•    Attend regular whole staff and departmental and Continuous Professional Development meetings 
•    Contribute to the subject super-curricular offer and ensure enrichment is built in to the curriculum


Person Specification:
•    Qualified to degree level 
•    Qualified Teacher Status (in a relevant subject) 
•    Successful experience of teaching Economics at A-Level and Business Studies at GCSE 
•    Evidence of at least good teaching leading to high attainment and progress 
•    Evidence of relevant subject-based CPD 
•    Understanding of the use of assessment to inform planning and improve student performance 
•    Ability to set consistently high expectations for all students through class work, homework and enrichment 
•    Excellent communication skills 
•    Ability to engage, enthuse and motivate students 
•    Ability to organise, plan and prioritise effectively 
•    Enthusiasm, drive and love of learning 
•    Flexibility, adaptability and creativity. 
•    Wanting to work collaboratively within the department
