Facade Technician

London or Manchester

Blaymires Recruitment is representing a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy that provides expert services in surveying, engineering, project management, and fire safety across England and Wales. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a talented Faade Technician to join their highly skilled faade and engineering team.

The role of a Facade Technician

As a Facade Technician, you will play a crucial role in investigating, assessing, and overseeing the construction of faade and cladding systems. You will work closely with project management and cost management teams, contributing to high-profile faade remediation and replacement projects.

Key Responsibilities of the Facade Technician

  • Conduct intrusive investigations of existing buildings, including coordinating opening-up works, sampling, and material testing.
  • Assess the configuration and material composition of external wall systems, identifying insulation types, fire breaks, and compliance risks.
  • Provide expert advice on compliance and risk factors associated with external wall systems.
  • Collect and analyze site investigation data to support FRAEW and Building Regulations compliance.
  • Monitor construction works, ensuring compliance with contract conditions, best practices, and legislative requirements.
  • Perform technical and quality assurance audits, tender reviews, RFIs, and due diligence assessments.
  • Prepare high-quality reports and provide technical guidance to project teams.
  • Inspect and oversee cladding remediation projects, delivering clear and concise monitoring reports.

Requirements of theFacade Technician

  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience within a consultancy or engineering firm.
  • 3+ years experience in a role involving external wall/faade construction analysis or inspection.
  • A degree in Building, Engineering, or a related field (or membership of a relevant professional organisation).
  • Strong technical knowledge of faade systems, fire safety measures, and building regulations.
  • Proven experience in reviewing designs, construction documentation, and resolving technical issues.
  • Ability to conduct contractor audits, due diligence assessments, and tender reviews.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills.
