Our client is now seeking to appoint a Senior Building Physics Engineer & Energy Modeler who will play a key role in delivering sustainable solutions for the clients. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to complex and impactful projects within a dynamic, innovative team.

Job Description:
As a Senior Building Physics Engineer & Energy Modeler, you will use your technical expertise to develop energy models and building performance simulations for a wide variety of projects. You will work closely with clients and internal teams to provide high-quality, tailored solutions that align with sustainability goals. In this role, you will manage projects, collaborate with mechanical engineers, and mentor junior team members while also taking a hands-on approach in modelling, analysis, and reporting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of complex energy models using tools such as ApacheHVAC, TM54, Part L, and NABERS.
  • Understand client briefs, interpret requirements, and deliver high-quality building physics models to meet sustainability and performance objectives.
  • Communicate effectively with mechanical engineers and other technical colleagues to ensure a collaborative approach to project delivery.
  • Take full ownership of projects, managing all aspects from concept to completion, while effectively delegating tasks to junior team members and the wider team. Ensure progress is monitored, and tasks are completed efficiently.
  • Write clear, coherent, and professional reports and presentations, ensuring that complex technical data is communicated clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends by continuously exploring and applying the latest innovations in sustainable building design, energy modelling, and building physics.
  • Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing within the team.

Requirements:

  • Relevant degree in Building Physics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in energy modelling, building physics, or related fields.
  • In-depth experience with building energy modelling packages, with a focus on compliance modelling (Part L), performance, and CIBSE TM54.
  • Strong working knowledge of ApacheHVAC systems and controls, and the ability to apply this knowledge in project work.
  • Solid understanding of the UK policy and regulatory landscape relating to sustainable buildings and energy performance.
  • Experience delivering projects directly to clients, with excellent front-line (face-to-face) customer interaction skills.
  • Proficiency in Rhino and/or Grasshopper is advantageous.
