Adecco are recruiting TWO Senior Planners on behalf of our Public Sector client.

  • Senior Planner
  • Public Sector - Local Authority based in Wandsworth
  • Temporary Role - 3 months with likely extension
  • Full Time - Monday to Friday, 36 hours per week
  • 22.70 per hour PAYE / 29.67 per hour Umbrella
  • Hybrid Working Arrangement
  • IT equipment provided
  • ASAP start

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently manage a diverse caseload of complex and high-profile planning applications, ensuring timely and transparent decision-making.
  • Prepare well-reasoned officer reports based on relevant planning policies and material considerations.
  • Coach and supervise junior planning officers, fostering their skills and knowledge to enhance service delivery.
  • Identify and propose improvements and creative solutions to enhance service quality and operational efficiency.
  • Present recommendations at Committee meetings and public forums, providing expert advice to Members and the community.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practises, and ensure compliance with data protection and health and safety regulations.

What We Are Looking For:

  • A degree in planning or a relevant professional qualification, with membership of the RTPI or eligibility for full membership.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of planning legislation, policy guidance, and effective customer relations practises.
  • Proven experience in local government policy work, including the preparation of development plan documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and planning database systems, with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to negotiate and deliver complex planning applications within set timeframes.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to service delivery improvements.
