The London Fire Brigade are looking to recruit a Learning Development Content Designer to join the People Directorate on a temporary basis until March 2025. You will work closely with subject matter experts across various departments to translate complex information into easily digestible learning materials that align with our organisational goals and learning strategies.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Content Design and Development:
    • Design and develop high-quality learning materials, including e-learning modules, instructor-led training, presentations, infographics, and videos.
    • Collaborate with SMEs to gather content and ensure accuracy, relevance, and alignment with learning objectives.
    • Apply instructional design principles to create content that is engaging, learner-centric, and meets diverse learning needs.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage multiple content development projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and adherence to project timelines.
    • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth workflow and integration of content across platforms.
    • Operate within processes to commission and approve content and comply with documentation requirements.
  • Content Review and Iteration:
    • Continuously review and update existing learning materials to keep them current and effective.
    • Design evaluation systems to measure learning outcomes and gather feedback to improve content quality.
  • Technical Proficiency:
    • Utilise e-learning authoring tools and graphic design software to develop professional-grade content.
    • Ensure content is accessible and optimised for various platforms, including mobile learning environments.
  • Quality Assurance:
    • Perform quality checks on all learning materials to ensure they meet organisational standards.
    • Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements related to learning content.
  • Collaboration and Communication:
    • Work closely with the Learning and Development Manager to align content with broader learning strategies.
    • Facilitate communication between SMEs and other stakeholders to ensure content meets the needs of the target audience.
  • Administrative Support:
    • Coordinate project documentation and impact assessments.
    • Identify and book venues for meetings and team development activities, ensuring all needs are accommodated.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Strong technical proficiency with e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Adobe Captivate) and graphic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite).
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively work with SMEs and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in designing training packages for both in-person and online delivery.
