Head of the South - Building Automation

My client has an exciting opportunity for an Area Head to ensure the implementation of the Buildings business regional strategy and targets. This is a General Management position where the Area Head will focus on increasing sales and service across all areas of the client's Buildings portfolio through both direct and indirect go-to-market channels. The Area Head will also be responsible for achieving defined financial goals and sales targets. The role covers the South region, with a focus on London-based customers.

The Area Head will make an impact by:

  • Implementing the regional strategy, guidelines, and targets, providing services and solutions in the Buildings market.

  • Growing sales and service with both existing and new customers.

  • Promoting and implementing the Safety Leadership Culture.

  • Delivering the organisational strategy with a deep understanding of industry trends, economic sectors, and market dynamics that drive the strategic imperatives of the business.

  • Regularly reviewing business plans to ensure alignment with the organisation's strategic goals.

  • Collaborating with customers to introduce new solutions (e.g., digital business models, predictive manufacturing/service, blockchain), and supporting the "up-sell" of opportunities alongside the operations and sales teams.

  • Managing the full range of field service delivery processes and ensuring customer expectations are met.

  • Identifying improvement opportunities and implementing measures to consistently enhance performance. Developing risk mitigation strategies to ensure successful outcomes.

  • Delegating work packages within the project team, synchronising workstreams, and coordinating interfaces in relation to work results.

  • Continuously monitoring project status through a structured review process to ensure goal achievement, mitigate risks, and address any change requests; taking appropriate actions to keep projects on track.

  • Building strong relationships with key customers at senior and Director levels.

  • Actively gathering and leveraging information to understand current and emerging customer business priorities, challenges, expectations, and needs.

  • Supporting employees to maximise their performance potential by planning and facilitating the development of their skills.

  • Establishing systems and processes to attract, develop, engage, and retain talented individuals, fostering an environment where employees can realise their full potential.

The Area Head will build on existing skills and experience, including:

  • Knowledge of the market sector and practical experience with the client's products and solutions to implement services and solutions.

  • Experience in leading effective teams, training, and mentoring others.

  • The ability to inspire and motivate colleagues.

  • The ability to build strong partnerships with key customers to better understand their needs and priorities.

  • Up-to-date practical experience in project management methodology.
