Deputy Headteacher

  • Leadership Pay Range: L15-L21 (£67,556 – £76,249)
  • Location: Southwark, London

Reed Education are seeking a Deputy Headteacher to join a leadership team and play a pivotal role in the management and improvement of their school. The successful candidate will assist the Headteacher in all aspects of school leadership, including curriculum, teaching, and learning, and will take full responsibility for the school in the Headteacher’s absence.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead and manage significant aspects of the school under the direction of the Headteacher.
  • Carry out teaching duties in line with the school’s schemes of work and the National Curriculum.
  • Shape the vision and direction of the school, setting out high expectations focused on pupil achievement.
  • Articulate, share, and act upon the school’s vision and values with all stakeholders.
  • Inspire, motivate, and influence staff and pupils to maintain the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and monitor policies and practices as part of the School Improvement Plan.
  • Provide leadership in improving parental and community involvement in the school’s life.
  • Lead and manage curriculum provision and contribute to the school’s professional development programme.
  • Maintain high standards of pupil behaviour and discipline in line with school policy.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified teacher status with evidence of ongoing professional development in school leadership and management.
  • At least 8 years of successful teaching experience in the primary age range.
  • Proven track record of raising attainment and substantial experience in a leadership and management role.
  • Experience in managing pupil attainment and tracking databases.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum, effective leadership, and strategies for school improvement.
  • Ability to analyse data, set targets, and monitor progress.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with staff, governors, and the wider school community.
