Morgan Hunt are currently working with a National Regulatory body in their search for a permanent Head of Professional Standards. This role will lead the new professional standards team.

The role will provide strategic leadership of the regulatory policy framework underpinning the standards for education, training and ongoing competence of barristers. As well as developing this new team to deliver an effective education and training policy function for the Standards department and the organisation.

The perfect candidate will have demonstrable experience of managing multiple complex policy projects, leading on them, engaging internal and external stakeholders and managing risk. As well as Considerable experience of working within a similar educational, training or regulatory field.

You should be a well-developed strategic thinker with analytical skills including the ability to source and interpret complex data and significant experience in leadership and people and performance management.

Job Title:Head of Professional Standards

Location: London - Hybrid ( 4 days a month in the office )

Annual Salary: £75,000-£85,000

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: Full-time hours - 37.5 hour week

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic leadership and ownership of all aspects of the regulatory policy framework
  • Leadership and management of the professional standards team; allocating workload, providing regular support and development as needed, agreeing clear objectives, and overseeing performance management of direct report/s and team overall
  • Plan and manage appropriate internal and expert stakeholder input into policy programmes, commissioning research where necessary
  • Fostering constructive relationships with Authorised Education Training Organisations
  • Undertaking speaking and other external engagements whilst representing the organisation
  • Demonstrate personal accountability by taking proactive responsibility, showing professionalism, high integrity, expertise and a results-driven approach to project management and to successful delivery of all the work of the new team
  • Active management in, and proactive support to, the Director in successful running of the regulatory standards department

Person Specification

  • Experience of managing multiple complex policy projects, leading on them, engaging stakeholders and managing risk
  • Experience of working within a similar educational, training or regulatory field
  • Well-developed strategic thinking and analytical skills including the ability to source and interpret complex data
  • Significant experience in leadership and people and performance management.
  • Demonstrable experience of putting in place new processes and systems for efficient delivery
  • Ability to build strong relationships and inspire confidence at all levels, internally and with external stakeholders.
