Primary Interim Senior Leader - Assistant Head/Deputy Head needed in Greenwich, South London

About the Role:

Career Teachers are seeking an experienced and qualified Primary Interim Senior Leader: Assistant Head/Deputy Head for a fantastic Nursery School in Greenwich, South London. We are looking for someone with experience working as a SENCo/DSL to cover this role, and experience working with Early Years would also be beneficial.

As this is an interim role we are looking for someone to hit the ground running and begin immediately, and we are looking for someone to cover this role until January 2025.

Key Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Head/Deputy Head you will:

  • Determine and maintain a strategic overview of inclusion and SEND across the school and drive school improvement in these areas,
  • Ensure the detailed implementation of support for children with SEND across the school,
  • Develop, monitor and review the implementation and effectiveness of the SEND policy, including classroom practice, interventions, the use of resources and the deployment of staff,
  • Contribute to strengthening and maintaining a collaborative learning community which promotes high expectations of self and others and ensures ongoing improvements,
  • Be a specialist in inclusive teaching and learning and contributing to an ethos of challenge and support where all children can achieve success,
  • Be an enthusiastic and excellent role model and leading by example - demonstrating high-quality, inclusive teaching practice which leads to excellent outcomes for children with SEND and those who are LAC or adopted from care, and supports children towards becoming independent learners,
  • Support the Head of School in ensuring the smooth day-to-day management of the school, deputising in the absence of the Executive Headteacher and Head of School,
  • And act as DSL (Designated Safeguarding Lead), responsible for safeguarding and child protection.
  • You may also at times be expected to undertake any other responsbilities deemed reasonable by the Executive Headteacher, including occasionally covering classes.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • An Undergraduate Education Degree or equivalent with QTS.
  • Previous in-school teaching experience - specifically as a Deputy Head, SENCo, DSL, or similar.
  • SENCo qualification or similar, or 12+ months experience working as a SENCo in a mainstream school,
  • Fluency in English, both spoken and written.
  • The right to work in the UK.
  • Expertise in teaching methods and effective communication skills.
  • The ability to inspire students of all abilities.
  • Dedication to creating ideal learning conditions and safeguarding children.
  • Proficiency in office software.
  • Positive, outgoing, and compassionate traits.

49,320
