Job Description:

As a Lightning Protection Engineer with our West Sussex based client, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and reliability of lightning protection, surge protection, and earthing systems across the UK. They are a rapidly expanding company, and they are seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join their team. You will be responsible for installing, repairing, testing lightning protection systems, and producing detailed reports to ensure they comply with current regulations (BS EN 62305).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough tests and inspections of Lightning Protection Systems.
  • Repair any failed Lightning Protection Systems in accordance with provided reports.
  • Install systems following client instructions, ensuring safe and productive work practices.
  • Produce comprehensive on-site reports.
  • Work at heights, including ladders, scaffolding, roofs, and using MEWPs (cherry pickers).
  • Ensure the proper maintenance and care of company vehicles and equipment.
  • Other work as required by the client on an ad-hoc basis.

Required Skills:

  • Excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Willingness to travel, primarily in the southern UK, with occasional trips to northern regions.
  • Comfortable working at heights.
  • Adherence to strict safe working practices.
  • Adaptability in work environment when needed.

Required Qualifications & Knowledge:

  • Minimum of one year of experience in the lightning protection industry.
  • Essential CSCS card.
  • Solid understanding of BS EN 62305 and BS 6651 standards.
  • NVQ2 or NVQ3 LP Engineer
  • Knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1978.
  • Familiarity with construction drawings.
  • Possession of a full, clean UK driving license.
  • DBS clearance.

Work Location:

The role will require traveling to customer sites nationwide, but applicants should ideally live within reasonable access of the Chichester area, as regular reporting to the head office will be required.
