Job Title: Public Protection Officer - Food and Health & Safety
Location: Havering
Hours: 36 hours Mon- Fri 9am-5:15pm
Rate: £40 hour PAYE/£50.34 Umbrella
Term: Currently until 26th may 2025
Must: Drive, own vehicle and business insurance
Join our client's team as a Public Protection Officer - Food and Health & Safety! As part of their organisation, you will play a crucial role in delivering their food hygiene and standards inspection programme, investigating complaints related to food and health & safety matters. Your responsibilities will also include assisting with health & safety at work, accident investigation, and infectious disease control. In addition, you will provide input on licencing and planning applications, as well as offer event consultations.
In this regulatory role, you will enforce policies, provide advice, and respond to complaints. Your duties may also require attending court and other hearings to provide evidence and lead prosecutions. As a valued team member, you will handle a diverse enforcement caseload in a multi-disciplined manner, effectively managing your workload. Flexibility, customer focus, technical knowledge, and strong communication skills are key attributes for success. Your ability to collaborate and support fellow officers when needed is highly valued.
Requirements:
- Proficiency in IT systems like MS Office and case management systems.
- Experience and competence in inspecting high-risk food businesses as per the Food Law Code of Practise.
- Competence in enforcing Health & Safety at Work Act and related regulations.
- Possession of a suitable qualification listed in the Food Law Code of Practise.
- Full driver's licence, own vehicle, and business insurance.
- Registration as an Environmental Health Practitioner.
This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with the option to work from home and the Town Hall in Romford, with occasional site visits.
