Our client, a prominent player in the power utilities sector, is currently seeking an experienced Senior SHEQ Advisor to join their dynamic team on a permanent basis. This exciting opportunity has arisen due to significant growth and new contract wins. The successful candidate will be based out of one of our client's offices in Borehamwood, Iver, or Shinfield, working across numerous Power/Electrical projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensuring strict adherence to the reporting and recording procedures for accidents and dangerous occurrences as required under RIDDOR.
  • Providing specialist advice on the company's safety policy, procedures, and statutory obligations.
  • Monitoring contractors' health and safety standards to ensure they meet contractual arrangements, company specifications, and policies.
  • Ensuring site employees comply with the company's health and safety requirements as well as those of its clients.
  • Recommending disciplinary procedures where necessary to enforce safety responsibilities.
  • Taking appropriate action when notified of safety disregards on site.
  • Ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all employees and visitors.
  • Monitoring the provision and effectiveness of welfare facilities.
  • Promoting the reporting of near misses throughout the organisation.
  • Working at various company-operated sites within the UK, as determined by business needs.
Skills & Experience:
  • Experience working as a Senior SHEQ Advisor within Construction, Utilities, or Civil Engineering, ideally within the Power sector.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Positive people management skills.
  • Ability to act with initiative and promote continual improvement.
  • Good negotiation skills and a tactful but assertive manner.
  • Ability to deliver confident and articulate presentations.
  • Logical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to cope under pressure and interpret relevant laws.
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.
  • Experience in report writing, including incident investigation and robust RCA.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Trustworthiness and discretion when handling confidential information.
Required Qualifications:
  • NCRQ Level 6 / NVQ Level 6 / NEBOSH Diploma.
  • Experience working in the utilities sector, preferably in the Power sector.
  • Experience working in live substations (desirable).
  • Experience working with management systems and the NERS Accreditation (desirable).
  • Experience working in DNOs and IDNOs.
  • EUSR or CSCS in General Health and Safety.
  • Proficient in compiling reports.
  • Must hold a current full UK drivers licence.
