The Role: Temporary Accommodation Health & Safety Compliance Officer

Key Responsibilities:

The temporary accommodations health and safety compliance officer will lead the council’s compliance processes to ensure the control, co-ordination and verification of compliance certification.

To ensure the councils legal responsibility to health and safety are met as well as managing the councils temporary accommodation providers performance in the areas of compliance, property standards, health and safety. Key responsibilities and duties include:

• Leading on the Council’s compliance processes

• Ensuring the coordination, control, and verification of compliance certification across all temporary accommodations • Verifying Gas, Electrical, and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC) on Nightly Paid, PSL, PMA through close working with the L/Ls and providers

• Managing temporary accommodation providers' performance in compliance with property standards and and HAP properties health and safety regulations.

• Ensuring properties procured for housing homeless residents meet council requirements for health and safety. Conducting property inspections to guarantee that temporary accommodations are fit for occupation, meeting regulatory standards for gas, electrical safety.

• Completing relevant compliance for all HAPs property in a timely manner

Required Experience

  • Experience of working in a similar compliance focused role.
  • Experience of providing an excellent level of customer care and customer service in a comparable customer service environment.
  • Experience of managing own caseload.
  • Experience inspecting accommodation to ensure compliance with property standards.
  • Extensive experience in, writing and presenting complex report and papers.
