About YouAs the successful candidate you'll have a relevant degree or equivalent professional qualification (e.g. NEBOSH Diploma); have had plenty of previous experience in developing and delivering against an annual health and safety work plan to improve safety performance; and be well versed in providing environmental and sustainability advice and guidance across all levels of an organisation. You will understand how to apply relevant statutory requirements e.g. Health and Safety at Work Act etc and be able to provide occupational related health and safety advice and guidance to managers and colleagues in HR.You will be able to combine your practical problem solving skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues with the highest levels of confidentiality, professionalism and integrity, whilst having excellent attention to detail and accuracy of written communication to elevate H,S & E practices through all levels of the charity. Key Responsibilities路 Provide expert knowledge on occupational health and safety, sustainability, and the environment, considering variations in UK legislation.路 Represent GamCare as the "Competent Person" in discussions with enforcing authorities such as the Health and Safety Executive and Environmental Health Officers.路 Advise the HR Team on occupational health-related matters, including stress, expectant mothers, display screen equipment, night worker screening, and return to work.路 Develop and review health, safety, and environment policies, procedures, and risk assessment frameworks to ensure compliance with current legislation.路 Conduct due diligence checks on the health and safety arrangements, risk assessments, and performance of third parties.路 Plan and undertake annual reviews of all organizational HSE risk assessments and monitor throughout the year.路 Investigate all HSE-related incidents and accidents, identifying root causes and taking actions to reduce recurrence.路 Develop and deliver bespoke HSE learning and development programs to managers and employees.Benefits You Can Enjoy路 33 days basic annual leave entitlement per annum (pro-rated for part-time colleagues) including bank holidays which increases with service路 A generous Pension Scheme - we contribute 6% and you contribute 2%路 Discretionary company sick pay from day one of service路 Employee Assistance Programme - 24-hour support
