Health & Safety Manager - Temp to Perm.

Location: Near Elephant & Castle, London (Office-based, not hybrid)

Salary: £47,000 per annum (£25.82 per hour based on a 35-hour working week)

This is an exciting opportunity to take the lead in managing and delivering the organisation's Health and Safety (H&S) Management Systems while overseeing the Reception team and front-of-house services. Located near Elephant & Castle, this role is office-based, offering a chance to play a critical role in driving a safe, compliant and welcoming workplace environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • H&S Systems Management: Develop, implement, and maintain Health and Safety Management Systems aligned with ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001, 9001, 14001). Lead audits, inspections and risk assessments, including COSHH and RAMS, ensuring full compliance with legislation.
  • Legal and Statutory Compliance: Ensure the organisation meets all legal and statutory safety requirements, maintaining up-to-date audit documentation and records. Investigate incidents, near-misses and dangerous occurrences. Implementing improvements based on findings.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver tailored training programmes to enhance awareness and compliance among all employees. Work closely with Learning and Development teams to address organisational needs.
  • Planning and Reporting: Design and coordinate annual and long-term H&S action plans, presenting updates to senior management. Prepare and present reports, statistics, and recommendations to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Culture and Promotion: Act as a key advocate for safety, promoting a proactive health and safety culture across the organisation and among subcontractors and stakeholders. Stay updated on legislation and introduce best practices as needed.

Reception and Front-of-House Management:

In addition to H&S responsibilities, the role includes managing the Reception team, ensuring a high-quality, secure, and professional front-of-house service:

  • Lead, motivate, and develop the team to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Oversee processes and standards to enhance operations and ensure smooth workforce management.
  • Collaborate with the Facilities Team to improve overall office services and manage supplier performance effectively.

This role requires a proactive, organised professional with strong leadership and communication skills, a passion for health and safety, and experience in creating welcoming, efficient work environments.
