Devika James Audiology isa private independentaudiologists. Our aim is to provide an exceptional service for our patients having hearing issues and ongoing care following treatment.

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate individual to join our team atour practise in Lewisham south Londonas an Earwax Microsuction Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for performing earwax removal procedures using microsuction techniques to help patients maintain optimal ear health and hearing.

Inspect, service and trouble shoot hearing aids, recalibrate and transfer settings. Full training can be provided if required.

Ideally hold a full UK driving license to conduct home visits for microsuction, hearing aid servicing and aftercares.

Responsibilities:

Patient Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' ear health, including reviewing medical history and performing visual examinations of the ear canal.
  • Determine the presence and severity of earwax build-up or impaction using appropriate diagnostic tools and techniques.

Earwax Removal:

  • Perform earwax removal procedures using microsuction techniques to safely and effectively remove excess earwax.
  • Utilize specialized equipment, such as microscopes and suction devices, to carefully remove earwax without causing discomfort or injury to the patient.
  • Educate patients about proper ear hygiene and provide recommendations for preventing future earwax build-up.

Hearing aid inspection:

  • To inspect, clean service and repair hearing aids including trouble shooting and recalibration. Full inhouse training can be given if required.

Home visits:

  • Not essential, but it would be advantageous if the candidate holds a full uk driving license to carry out home visits for microsuction, hearing aid cleaning and general aftercares.

Documentation and Record-Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of patient assessments, procedures performed, and treatment outcomes.
  • Document any complications or adverse reactions and report them to the appropriate healthcare professionals or regulatory authorities.
  • Communicate with patients in a clear and compassionate manner, explaining the earwax removal procedure and addressing any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Provide guidance on post-procedure care instructions and follow-up appointments to ensure optimal healing and recovery.

Qualifications:

  • Training could be provided externally for the right applicant who has a background within audiology who wishes to progress their career, but previous experience is preferred.
  • Certification or training in earwax microsuction techniques from a recognized institution or program.
  • Previous experience performing earwax removal procedures using microsuction is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of ear anatomy, physiology, and common ear disorders.
  • Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
  • Compassionate and patient-centred approach to care, with the ability to reassure and comfort patients during procedures.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients and colleagues.
WorkingInitially two or three days per week, but this will be expected to go up to Monday to Friday working 9-5.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience
