COMMERCIAL REFRIGERATION ENGINEER

We are working in partnership with a small, friendly, well established Commecial Catering Rerigeration company based near Dartford who, due to demand and new and ongong contracts, are seeking to expand their busy network of Refrigeration Engineers.

The role is from Monday - Friday to effectively provide Installation, maintenance and repair of refrigeration and catering equipment to a high standard in establishments including schools, care homes, hospitals, restaurants, hotels and food production kitchens.

Location:

  • Field Based - South West London

Duties will include:

  • Installation & Commissioning: Install, test, and commission commercial catering equipment, including ovens, grills, fryers, hot cupboards, water boilers, warewashing, and refrigeration units (e.g., walk-in fridges, freezers, and ice machines).
  • Maintenance & Servicing: Perform planned preventive maintenance on refrigeration and catering equipment to prevent downtime and costly repairs.
  • Repairs & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair faults on catering and refrigeration systems, including electrical and mechanical issues. Ensure minimal disruption to customer operations.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensure all work complies with health and safety regulations, and that equipment meets industry standards and codes of practice and you adhere to site guidelines at all times.
  • Customer Support: Provide technical advice and support to customers, ensuring excellent customer service at all times.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of all services performed, including job reports, parts used, and any follow-up required. Ensuring all information part no.s etc for all quotations is provided.
  • Van Stock Management: Manage spare parts inventory related to catering and refrigeration equipment. Report any stock shortages or required orders in a timely manner.
  • Maintenance: Manage maintenance of equipment and vehicle
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other engineers, management, and clients to ensure jobs are completed efficiently and to high standards.
  • PPE: Ensure correct usage of PPE at all times and maintained to usable condition.

Relevant Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience in the maintenance, servicing, and repair of commercial refrigeration & catering equipment, with expertise in refrigeration systems.
  • Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of refrigeration systems, electrical, and plumbing aspects of catering equipment.
  • Certifications: F-Gas certification (Category 1) is essential. Relevant electrical or refrigeration qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 2/3, City & Guilds) are highly desirable.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose technical issues quickly and provide effective solutions under pressure.
  • Customer Focus: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with customers and clients.
  • Driving License: Full, clean UK driving license required, as the role will involve travel to customer sites.
  • Working Hours: Flexibility in working hours is essential for this role
  • DBS: Able to pass advanced DBS - Essential

Salary:

  • From £45k to £50k+per annum
