A fantastic Primary School in Hammersmith & Fulham is looking for a dedicated 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant to work with a KS1 student who is working significantly below age-related expectations (ARE).
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a background in SEN support or experience working with early learners who require extra assistance. As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in helping this young child develop key skills, particularly around language and communication.
As a 1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing tailored, one-on-one support to a KS1 student in the early stages of language development.
- Working with a child who is highly self-directed, adapting to their individual learning needs and promoting engagement.
- Supporting their educational and social development through carefully planned interventions and activities.
- Collaborating closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt strategies as needed.
- Helping the child develop confidence, independence, and key life skills, ensuring they have a positive school experience.
- Experience working with children with special educational needs, ideally in a 1:1 setting.
- A calm, patient, and proactive approach to supporting children who are working below ARE.
- A passion for helping students with language development, using creative and effective strategies to support communication.
- The ability to build strong, trusting relationships with the child, parents, and staff.
