About the Role:
Are you passionate about supporting young learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to work with a Year 2 student in a primary school in Southwark (SE8).

This role focuses on providing tailored support to a child with SEN, helping them engage with the curriculum and achieve developmental milestones. The ideal candidate will have prior experience working with SEN. A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide personalised 1:1 support for a Year 2 student with SEN, ensuring they remain engaged and focused on their learning activities
  • Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet the student's specific needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to implement and monitor an individual education plan (IEP)
  • Encourage positive behaviour and social interaction, helping the child build relationships with their peers
  • Support the student in managing transitions and routines, creating a structured and supportive learning environment

The Ideal candidate will have:

  • Proven experience working with SEN children in a primary school or similar setting
  • A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach to supporting young learners
  • Strong communication skills to liaise with staff, parents, and external agencies effectively
  • Confidence in managing behaviour and adapting strategies to meet the needs of the student
  • A Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification is desirable but not essential
