1:1 SEND Teaching Assistant required for an Ealing-based Primary School

Are you a Speech and Language Therapy Graduate looking to make a meaningful impact in a school setting?

A well-regarded Primary School in Ealing is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a student who is deaf. This role is ideal for a Speech and Language Therapist with a passion for helping children overcome communication barriers and succeed academically and socially.

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
  • Providing personalised 1:1 support to a student who is deaf, assisting them in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities.
  • Implementing tailored communication strategies, including the use of sign language or other relevant tools, to facilitate effective learning and interaction.
  • Collaborating closely with teachers, the SEN team, and external professionals to develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) that meet the student's specific needs.
  • Monitoring the student's progress, adapting support strategies as necessary, and ensuring their well-being and inclusion within the school community.
  • Supporting the development of the student's social, emotional, and academic skills, fostering their confidence and independence.
The ideal candidate will have:
  • A background in Speech and Language Therapy or relevant experience working with children who are deaf or have hearing impairments.
  • Proficiency in sign language (desirable but not essential).
