Role Overview:
As a BSL Teaching Assistant, you will provide vital support to students with hearing impairments, ensuring they have full access to the curriculum. Working closely with teachers and the SEN team, you will use British Sign Language (BSL) to facilitate communication and learning, helping students to thrive in their educational journey.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with hearing impairments.
- Use BSL to aid communication between students, teachers, and peers.
- Assist in adapting lesson materials to ensure accessibility.
- Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external specialists.
Requirements:
- BSL Level 2 or above (Level 3+ preferred).
- Experience working with deaf or hearing-impaired students in an educational setting.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to supporting students.
- A passion for inclusive education and helping young people reach their full potential.
