Full-Time English Lecturer – Functional Skills & GCSE English LanguageLocation: MertonStart Date: ASAPWe are seeking an experienced English Lecturer with a background in SEN support to join our team on a full-time basis, delivering Functional Skills English (Entry 2 to Level 2) and GCSE English Language courses. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with learners who have special educational needs, supporting them in their academic journey to achieve their full potential.Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality lessons in Functional Skills English (Entry 2 to Level 2) and GCSE English Language, ensuring they are engaging and accessible to students with diverse needs.
  • Develop tailored lesson plans and teaching materials that accommodate the learning styles of students, including those with special educational needs.
  • Provide one-on-one support to students, helping them build their skills in reading, writing, and comprehension.
  • Offer additional SEN support, assisting students with individualized learning plans (IEPs) and ensuring their specific educational needs are met.
  • Prepare students for assessments and exams, with a focus on improving literacy and English Language skills.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, providing regular feedback to students and reporting on their development.
  • Work closely with the SEN department and other colleagues to ensure an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, curriculum planning, and staff development activities.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
  • Proven experience teaching Functional Skills English (Entry 2 to Level 2) and GCSE English Language.
  • Experience working with students with special educational needs (SEN), and understanding how to adapt teaching to meet these needs.
  • A relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, Cert Ed, or equivalent).
  • Experience in developing and implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Must have an enhanced DBS check in place.
  • A strong understanding of the English curriculum and the ability to deliver engaging and inclusive lessons.
Additional Requirements:
  • Ability to work full-time and start ASAP.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to engage and motivate learners to reach their full academic potential, especially students with SEN.
  • Previous experience in an SEN-focused educational setting is highly desirable.
