Key Responsibilities of an ESOL Lecturer:

  • Plan and deliver engaging ESOL lessons to students at various levels.
  • Assess and monitor students' progress, providing feedback and support where necessary.
  • Develop and adapt course materials to meet the needs of diverse learners.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of teaching and learning practices within the department.
  • Ensure a positive and inclusive classroom environment that supports the diverse backgrounds of students.
  • Maintain up-to-date records of student attendance, progress, and assessments.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the student experience and contribute to departmental goals.

Key Requirements of an ESOL Lecturer

  • A full UK recognised teaching qualification (e.g., Cert TESOL, CELTA, PGCE or equivalent).
  • Experience teaching ESOL at various levels within a Further Education and Training setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage and motivate learners.
  • Knowledge of current trends and best practices in ESOL teaching.
  • A commitment to supporting students in their academic and personal development.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • An Enhanced Child DBS check, either on the update service or issued within the last 12 months.
  • Willingness to travel around South London as required.

Desirable:

  • A degree or relevant qualification in English or TESOL-related fields.
  • Experience working with students who have a wide range of learning needs.#
