Role Overview

This is an ideal opportunity for an aspiring primary school teacher who is looking to gain valuable hands-on experience in a supportive, professional setting. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside a highly trained primary school teacher, providing direct support to children with SEN. You will be instrumental in creating a positive learning environment and helping students thrive academically and socially.

Key Responsibilities

Support the primary school teacher in delivering tailored lessons to students.

Provide one-on-one and small group support to students, ensuring their needs are met.

Assist with classroom management and promote positive behaviour.

Help to prepare learning materials and resources to support student engagement.

Monitor and track the progress of students, providing feedback where necessary.

Foster a supportive and caring environment that encourages students' social and emotional development.

Contribute to the wider school community through participation in school events and activities.

Key Requirements

A recent graduate degree in any subject area.

Previous paid or voluntary experience working with young people essential.

Passionate about working with children, particularly those with SEN, and aspiring to become a primary school teacher.

Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate young learners.

Patience, resilience, and a commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment.

A proactive and enthusiastic attitude, with a willingness to learn and grow within the role.

Relevant experience in supporting children with SEN is highly desirable but not essential.

A desire to pursue a PGCE/Teach First or similar teacher training program in the future.
