Are you a passionate and experienced Biology Teacher ( HOD )  ready to lead and inspire? We are seeking a dynamic Head of Department for Science who is a specialist in Biology to join a thriving school community in Hackney. This exciting role starts in September for the Autumn term initially.

Role Overview: As the Head of Department for Science, you will lead a dedicated team of educators and take responsibility for the overall management and leadership of the Science department. While some lessons will be at KS3, the majority of your teaching timetable will focus on KS5 Biology, where you will inspire and guide students through their advanced studies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department, with a particular focus on Biology.
  • Deliver high-quality Biology lessons, primarily at KS5, with some teaching at KS3.
  • Develop and implement innovative curricula and teaching strategies that engage and challenge students.
  • Support and mentor Science teachers, fostering professional development and collaborative practice.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across the department.
  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, implementing interventions where necessary to ensure all students achieve their full potential.
