The Role:

As an HLTA, you will play a key role in supporting the teaching and learning process across the school. You will work alongside the class teacher to plan and deliver engaging lessons, cover classes when needed, and provide targeted support to groups or individual students. Your experience and enthusiasm will be essential in ensuring all pupils make progress and achieve their potential.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the class teacher in the planning and delivery of lessons.
  • Cover classes when teachers are absent, maintaining a positive learning environment.
  • Lead small group interventions to boost student attainment.
  • Support students with additional learning needs, including those with SEN.
  • Help assess pupil progress and adapt teaching strategies to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in managing the classroom and ensuring a positive, inclusive atmosphere.
  • Collaborate with the wider school team, including teachers and the SENCO.


About You:

  • Experience as an HLTA or a similar role within a primary school setting.
  • Confidence in delivering lessons and working with pupils across different year groups.
  • Knowledge of SEN and experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A flexible, proactive attitude and the ability to work effectively within a team.
  • A passion for helping children achieve their best and promoting a positive learning environment.
