A well-regarded secondary school in Greenwich is looking for a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant to support the Humanities department and help make a real difference in students' lives. This role is perfect for a recent graduate seeking hands-on classroom experience while being part of a supportive and forward-thinking educational environment.







The Role:

As a Humanities Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will support the Humanities teachers in delivering engaging and impactful lessons across a variety of subjects, including History, Geography, Religious Studies, and Citizenship. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing In-Class Support: Working closely with students in both small groups and one-to-one settings to reinforce their learning, helping them grasp complex ideas and concepts in Humanities subjects.

  • Supporting Classroom Management: Assisting teachers with maintaining a focused and positive classroom environment, ensuring that students are engaged and on task throughout lessons.

  • Encouraging Student Development: Providing academic and emotional support to students, boosting their confidence, and helping them develop their skills in research, analysis, and communication.

  • Providing Feedback on Student Work: Helping teachers mark and provide constructive feedback on student assignments, enabling you to support individual learning needs and track student progress.

  • Contributing to Lesson Planning: Assisting teachers in preparing materials for lessons and contributing to the development of lesson plans, ensuring that they cater to a variety of learning styles.

  • Engaging in Extra-Curricular Activities: Depending on the needs of the school, there may be opportunities to assist with extracurricular Humanities-based clubs or activities, helping to enrich the student experience.



About You:

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following:

  • A degree in Humanities or a related subject (2:1 or above), such as History, Geography, Religious Studies, or Politics.

  • A passion for education and a desire to inspire students in Humanities subjects.

  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and approachable manner.

  • Patience and empathy in supporting students with diverse learning needs, and the ability to build strong relationships.
