**Teaching Assistant Required for Year 2 Student with ASC**

Parker Smith Inclusion is currently collaborating with a vibrant and inclusive two-form entry mainstream primary school that is dedicated to fostering a supportive and nurturing environment for all its pupils. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the team. This role specifically involves supporting a non-verbal Year 2 student with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who is working at an Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) level. Additionally, you will be required to provide support to other students across the school as necessary.
**Role Overview:**
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in offering personalised support to the student, helping them engage with their learning in a manner that caters to their unique needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and other staff members to create a positive learning environment. Your role may also involve assisting other students when the primary student is not present.
**Key Responsibilities:**
- Provide one-on-one support to a non-verbal Year 2 student with ASC, facilitating their access to the curriculum and promoting independence.
- Implement and adapt teaching strategies to suit the student’s individual learning requirements.
- Assist in conducting “What’s in the Bucket?” style sessions and other engaging activities to develop communication and social skills.
- Collaborate with teachers to create and modify learning resources, ensuring they are inclusive and accessible.
- Support the student in social interactions and help them develop peer relationships.
- Monitor and record the student’s progress, providing feedback to teaching staff and parents as needed.
- Engage with and support other students in the classroom when the primary student is absent.
**Qualifications and Skills:**
- Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar role, particularly with children with ASC.
- Training in Intensive Interaction techniques is highly desirable.
- Understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework and experience working with EYFS-level students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment.
