Computer Programming Cyber Security Lecturers required.

  • This is a remote role designing programmes and assessments for an overseas university.
  • You will be paid £500 for each module you design, complete with 4 learning outcomes and 4 assessment criteria plus a sample assessment. Hence the advertised salary has been pro rated down to a salary for each project.
  • There are 6 modules so potentially for someone who can design all 6 = £3000
  • This is level 4 or year 1 in an English University, 7 in Scotland.
  • You may choose design one or more than one - you must inform us in your application which module(s) you have experience in designing.
  • You cannot simply offer a copy of a module from your current or previous university, you need to design the module.

Module Titles

1. Computer Programming

This module covers basic programming concepts and fundamentals using Java programming language.

Content includes:

An overview of programming paradigms and techniques, analysis of problems and design using pseudo-code and flowcharts basic program elements and structure development supported by version-controlled code repositories.

2. Computer Networking and Cyber Security

Concepts of Computer Networking and Cyber Security. It explores topics such as network operation (OSI, TCP/IP), basic

routing concepts, network components such as client/server. It also explores elementary security concepts such as

cryptography and encryption. 7 20 Core

3. Data Structure and Managing Data

With data volume, velocity, and variety increasing at exponential rates, this module looks at data structures and

algorithms for managing data within applications and the larger data engineering process as a whole. It considers how to manage data from individual numbers and letters on a computer to large data sets managed in the cloud.

4. Modern Web Scripting Engines

Modern web/scripting engines as a platform for developing cross-platform applications including web-based

applications. These platforms provide code-based and visual scripting approaches to software development that

allows for rapid iteration and development of applications, including remote management and cyber security. It equips

students with a foundational understanding of a modern scripting engine, how to develop applications, and

how to manage the development life-cycle including debugging 7 20 Core

5. Advanced Mathematics for Computing

Aiming to build applied mathematical concepts and skills required for the study and application of computer science and 7 20 Core

Cyber security, this module covers basic arithmetic and algebraic concepts used in almost every aspect of computer science. This is followed by topics on logic which are fundamental concepts used in the functioning of computer hardware and design and programming of software. Basics of proof techniques and topics in abstract and linear algebra and more advanced topics like groups and using matrices to solve systems of linear equations are included. Finally, probability and concepts in statistics.

6. Information Systems Development

This module develops skills and techniques required for analysing, modelling and designing information systems.

Understand the legal, social, ethical and professional issues relating to information systems development to enhances

knowledge of information systems modelling and design.
