Are you a compassionate and skilled psychologist with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are seeking a dedicated School-Based SEN Psychologist to work closely with children who require additional emotional and educational support within our inclusive primary school.

The Role:
In this role, you will support the mental health, emotional well-being, and academic success of students with SEN. Leveraging your experience as a school-based Teaching Assistant (TA), you will bring a practical understanding of classroom dynamics and student interaction, helping to design and deliver effective interventions. Collaborating closely with teachers, families, and multidisciplinary teams, you will play a key role in promoting an inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct psychological assessments to identify individual student needs and inform tailored support plans.
  • Provide one-to-one and group-based therapeutic interventions to promote emotional resilience and well-being.
  • Utilize your school-based TA experience to offer practical, classroom-focused strategies to support teachers and students.
  • Work with SEN coordinators and staff to design inclusive teaching practices and behavioral strategies.
  • Provide training and workshops to staff on SEN and mental health issues.

  • Collaborate with families to offer guidance, support, and resources.
  • Maintain accurate records and comply with statutory guidelines for SEN support.

Essential Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology and relevant professional qualifications (e.g., Educational or Clinical Psychology).
  • Registration with an appropriate professional body (e.g., HCPC).
  • Proven experience as a school-based Teaching Assistant (TA).
  • Practical understanding of classroom dynamics and the needs of students with SEN.
  • Knowledge of SEN frameworks, including EHCPs, and experience contributing to their development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Empathy, patience, and a commitment to supporting diverse student needs.
