Job Title: Science Teacher - SEMH School
Location: Barkingside, London Borough of Redbridge
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Science Teacher to join the team at an SEMH school based in Barkingside, Redbridge. This school caters to students who require additional support in their learning due to their challenging behaviour. As a Science Teacher, you will have the opportunity to make a profound impact on the lives of these students by delivering engaging and inspiring science education.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality science lessons, tailored to meet the specific needs of students with challenging behaviour.
- Utilize innovative teaching strategies and resources to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
- Adapt teaching methods to accommodate individual learning styles, ensuring every student is fully engaged in the learning process.
- Foster a supportive and nurturing classroom environment that promotes positive behaviour management and emotional well-being.
- Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.
- Regularly assess student progress and provide constructive feedback to support their academic and personal development.
- Establish effective communication channels with parents/guardians to keep them informed about student progress and encourage their involvement in the learning process.
- Participate in professional development activities to enhance your own knowledge and teaching skills.
Requirements:
- Qualified teacher status (QTS) or equivalent, with a degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
- Experience teaching science at the secondary level, preferably in a Pupil referral unit or special educational needs (SEN) setting.
- A thorough understanding of the national curriculum for science, along with the ability to differentiate instruction to meet individual learning needs.
- Strong classroom management skills, with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
- A genuine passion for supporting the social, emotional, and academic development of students with SEMH or challenging behaviour.
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet the evolving needs of our students and school.
