This is an exciting opportunity to support and empower students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). As a SEND Lecturer, you will deliver tailored, high-quality lessons that promote the academic and personal development of SEND students, ensuring they have the tools and support they need to succeed.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lesson Planning & Delivery: Design, prepare, and deliver engaging, inclusive lessons that are tailored to the individual needs of SEND students.
  • Assessment & Feedback: Create and administer assessments to track student progress, providing constructive feedback to help them reach their academic potential.
  • Student Support: Offer individualised support to students with SEND, ensuring they receive the appropriate resources and accommodations needed for success.
  • Curriculum Adaptation: Modify and adapt the curriculum to meet the learning requirements of SEND students, ensuring it remains relevant, engaging, and accessible.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with teaching staff, support staff, and external agencies to ensure a coordinated approach to meeting students' SEND needs.
  • Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess and monitor student progress, providing timely interventions where necessary to help students overcome barriers to learning.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
  • A degree or relevant qualification in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Education, or a related field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • A relevant teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Proven experience teaching SEND students, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Knowledge and experience in adapting teaching methods and resources to meet the diverse needs of SEND students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students with additional learning needs.
  • A commitment to delivering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
Desirable Skills & Attributes:
  • Experience with a range of SEND, including learning disabilities, physical disabilities, and autism spectrum disorders.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in SEND education.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • A proactive, student-centered approach, with a focus on supporting students' academic and personal growth.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, students, and external partners to support the diverse needs of SEND students.
