Behaviour Mentor - Secondary SEND School - Immediate Start - Barking and Dagenham, London

Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to join a vibrant secondary SEND school in Barking and Dagenham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with students across Key Stage 3 (KS3) and Key Stage 4 (KS4), providing both one-on-one and small group support to help them develop positive behaviours and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support students who exhibit challenging behaviours, helping them develop strategies to improve both in and out of the classroom
  • Provide 1:1 mentoring and small group sessions to promote positive behaviour, emotional regulation, and academic engagement
  • Work closely with teachers, SENCo, and other staff to implement personalised behaviour plans
  • Act as a role model, encouraging students to develop confidence, resilience, and social skills
  • Help students understand the impact of their behaviour and support them in making better choices
  • Maintain strong communication with parents and carers to ensure consistent support for students
  • Contribute to a positive school environment, promoting respect, inclusion, and a sense of community

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience working with young people, ideally in a secondary SEND school setting
  • Understanding of behaviour management techniques and strategies
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students
  • Empathy, patience, and resilience when dealing with challenging behaviour
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach to supporting students
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience supporting students with special educational needs (SEN)
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures

Additional Information:

  • Full-time, Monday to Friday
