SEND Teaching assistant - SEND School in Harrow - Immediate start

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEND Teaching Assistant to join an SEND school for students with severe and moderate learning difficuties. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and effective learning environment for children. This position is particularly suited for individuals who have experience working with children, including those with special educational needs such as autism, severe and moderate learning difficulties. The SEND Teaching Assistant will assist in the delivery of educational programmes, ensuring that all students receive the attention and support they require to thrive.

Duties

  • Provide support to children during classroom activities, ensuring they are engaged and participating fully.
  • Help with the care and supervision of toddlers, promoting their social, emotional, and physical development.
  • Work closely with children who have special educational needs, including those on the autism spectrum, to facilitate their learning and development.
  • Communicate effectively with children, parents, and colleagues to foster a positive learning environment.
  • Maintain a safe and clean classroom environment, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in assessing children's progress and reporting any concerns to the lead teacher.

Ideal Skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children and adults alike.
  • Experience working in a similar environment is highly desirable but not essential
  • Ability to educate and inspire young learners
  • Familiarity with special education practices and strategies for working with children who have diverse learning needs.
  • Previous experience working with children in various settings is advantageous.
