EdEx are working closely with a High-achieving Secondary school in Richmond who are looking for bright, enthusiastic graduates to join them as a Teaching Assistant in September. This Outstanding school is in the Top 1% for progress, however they are also praised for the pastoral support that they offer all of their students. The SENCO is looking for people with a genuine interest in SEN & Mental Health who can work closely with students in KS3, KS4 and KS5 to support them both academically and pastorally.

You will be supporting students with mild SEN & Mental Health needs, all of which will have personalised plans in place for you to follow. Your role will involve building a strong rapport with the students, supporting them in the classroom as well as in the SEN Learning zone, working with them to improve their academic ability, confident, communication skills and more.

You will be completing out of class interventions as well as in class support alongside a class teacher for KS3 & KS4 students. Additionally, you will have fortnightly 1:1 sessions with KS5 students in Year 12 & 13. This is a very rewarding role that will give you the opportunity to not only gain hands on experience with SEN & Mental Health, but also the chance to shadow occupational therapists, psychologists and many more professionals.   • Teaching Assistant - SEN & Mental Health focus
  • Working with KS3 - KS5 students
  • Full Time - Long Term (Term time only)
  • Monday to Friday 8:30-4pm
  • 105 - 115 per day
  • September 2024 start (for full academic year)
  • Located in Richmond
  • In class support and out of class interventions focussing on students mental health
  • Supporting students of all abilities including those with SEN
  • Using creative and imaginative ways to always engage the students
  • To support students 1:1 or in small groups

Candidate Specification - Teaching Assistant - SEN & Mental Health:

  • Bright graduate with a 1st Class or 2:1 Degree
  • Strong passion for working with students on their academia and mental health
  • Needs Enthusiasm to be able to inspire the children with learning
  • Must be confident within your ability and knowledge of both the GCSE & A Level curriculum
