Teaching Assistant Role

Are you a passionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant looking for a new role? We are working with an outstanding school in Richmond, currently seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their team.

Our school is a thriving, happy, and oversubscribed special school catering to children and young people aged 4-19 with severe and complex learning difficulties. Many of our pupils also have an additional diagnosis of autism and/or physical and sensory disabilities. We are deeply committed to supporting each pupil in achieving their full potential through a stimulating, challenging, and nurturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support children and young people with Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), and physical/sensory disabilities.
  • Work closely with the Class Teacher to contribute to assessment, planning, and the overall learning experience.
  • Encourage the development of key skills such as communication, independence, and community inclusion.
  • Provide a caring and creative approach to learning, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children and young people; experience with SLD/PMLD/ASC is an advantage.
  • Strong communication and numeracy skills.
  • Well-organized, with the ability to assist in planning and delivering tailored learning experiences.
  • A positive, enthusiastic, and imaginative approach to supporting learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.
  • High expectations for learners' achievements in communication, independence, and behavior.
